Camper Opéra

The doors of our Opéra store in Paris have reopened, unveiling a new space conceived by Italian architecture practice Piovenefabi.

Next to the Palais Garnier's main entrance, the store sits within the Opéra district, one of the defining results of Baron Haussmann's transformation of Paris in the nineteenth century. Rather than competing with its surroundings, the project bridges the existing building and a new spatial experience.

"The Haussmannian façade provides a flexible framework. The double-height entrance establishes a dialogue with the scale of the city and the grandeur of the Opéra," says Giovanni Piovene, founding partner at Piovenefabi.

Inside, a freestanding architectural element defined by a continuous sequence of curves stands at the heart of the design, creating fluid circulation while introducing a more intimate, human scale.

"We wanted to extend the public experience into the retail space and vice versa. For us, entering the store should feel like stepping into a hand-drawn sketch—a 'dibujo,'" Piovene concludes.

With the unveiling of Opéra, Camper continues to shape retail spaces as an expression of the design philosophy, collaborating with architects whose work brings new perspectives to the relationship between product, architecture, and the urban environment.
