Maximum durability,
minimum impact.

To help each pair last longer and reduce our impact, we take an integrated approach. We first assess where materials come from and how durable they are, then design with circularity in mind, and finally apply best practices with the ambition to drive real change in the industry.

We make shoes that last

We use the Higg Product Tools* to measure durability across our collection. Each style goes through four tests that simulate real daily wear:

*The Higg Index is a set of tools used to measure social and environmental performance across the value chain and product impacts.

Flexibility

The shoe is repeatedly bent to check the resistance of the sole and upper. All our styles reach at least 50,000 cycles.

Bond strength

Measures how strong the adhesive bond is between the upper and the sole.

Outsole resistance

Measures durability against friction and repeated contact with abrasive surfaces.

Lining resistance

The Martindale abrasion test measures how resistant the lining material is to repeated rubbing.

After testing, each style is classified by durability level:

Basic

Moderate

Lifetime Guarantee

Pelotas Ariel, one of Camper’s most iconic shoes, inspired by the passion and imagination of sports pioneers, continues to prove its outstanding quality.

This Camper icon retains its recognisable rubber sole with 87 spheres, paired with a premium leather upper and a rubber sole, both stitched together 360 degrees. This ensures a secure bond between the two components.

We believe this product is so durable that we offer it with a lifetime guarantee.

Your favourite shoes, forever.

There’s nothing more sustainable than quality. That’s why we’re committed to working with top-quality materials and leading partners to create longer-lasting products that are better for you and the planet.

How do we measure the impact of our collections?

B Corp Impact Business Model

One way we measure the effectiveness of our sustainable design strategy is through the B Corp Impact Business Model. It helps us assess our collections across three areas:

Resource conservation

Products that reduce resource use and or limit waste, like certified recycled materials.

Toxics reduction

Products that are crafted with less harmful materials, such as organically grown ones.

Ecosystem conservation

Products made with materials from regenerative practices that protect land and/or wildlife.

Materials-by-weight assessment

We also analyse the percentage of responsible materials relative to the total weight of the shoe.

Criteria include:

Recycled materials
Innovative materials
Improved production processes
Responsible sourcing
Organic content

A product meets the standard when at least 50% of its weight comes from materials in one of these categories.

Our Materials

Leather

Since 2013, we’ve been members of the Leather Working Group, which promotes responsible practices in the leather industry.

We don’t use leather from endangered species.

Cotton

We’re working to replace conventional cotton with more sustainable options, such as recycled cotton and certified organic cotton.

We’re also members of the Better Cotton Initiative, created to improve cotton production for farmers, the environment, and the future of the industry.

Wool

Fully biodegradable, wool is known for its durability and thermal insulation.

All our wool comes from the UK and New Zealand and is mulesing-free, supporting animal welfare practices.

TENCEL™ Lyocell

Made from renewable, untreated wood pulp sourced from controlled FSC® or PEFC™ certified origins. These plant-based fibres are produced using environmentally responsible methods that recycle water and reduce impact by 95% compared to conventional cotton.

Restricted Substances

Our Restricted Substances List (RSL) identifies hazardous substances that may be used or released into the environment during manufacturing and related footwear processes.

We send it every year to all material suppliers and factories and also test every new material before including it in the collection.

Designing with circularity in mind

We understand circularity starts before and continues after the lifecycle of a product by:

1

Designing products that are easier to dismantle, with simplified structures that support modularity and monomaterial solutions to make recycling easier.

2

Extending product life through lifetime guarantees on our most durable lines, and repair and shoe collection services in our main markets.

Designing to close the loop

Monomateriality

Making a shoe from a single material simplifies recycling with our partners, as it eliminates the need for sorting and disassembly, as in the case of Kobarah.

Modularity

A modular shoe design has interchangeable parts for repair and customisation, promoting sustainability by reducing waste and extending the shoe’s lifespan.

Recyclability

Shoes designed to be recyclable are made with materials that can be easily recovered at the end of their life, helping to minimise waste and support a circular economy.

Simplification

Seamless technology in styles like selected Peu and Drift Trail styles, that lower components and the overall impact of a shoe.

Offering a longer lifespan

Lifetime Guarantee

For our most durable lines, such as the leather version of Pelotas Ariel.

Customization

An invitation to mix and match shoes in multiple ways to get the most out of them.

Disassembly

Lines like Junction are designed using glue-free techniques so they can be taken apart and recycled.

Roku

Let’s take a closer look at the parts that make up Roku:

•Lower lace: 100% recycled PET
•Upper laces: 100% recycled PET
•Upper: 75% recycled PET
•Inner sock: 75% recycled PET
•Insole: 20% recycled EVA

They’re designed to be recycled into new shoe components when material quality can be preserved, or recycled for use in other industries.

And the key component:

• Outsole: 51% recycled EVA XL EXTRALIGHT®

Designed to become a new sole after grinding, in collaboration with Finproject, to help close the loop.

We build our shoes to last, then make sure they do.
